The VWAP reclaim

4 min · All levels · Free

VWAP is the intraday fair value line.

VWAP is the volume-weighted average price for the session so far. Institutions use it to benchmark their fills. When price drops below it and then reclaims it on strong volume, that shift often draws buyers back.

The RECLAIM on the chart.

Price dipped below VWAP, then pushed back above the RECLAIM label on expanding volume. That return shifts the short-term balance back to buyers.

It went up. UP. High volume on the reclaim means size was committed on the way back. Buyers defended the line and the path of least resistance is higher until price gives it back.

A stock dropped below VWAP for 45 minutes, then pushed back above it on the highest volume of the day. What does that signal?

  1. A likely continued decline, VWAP reclaims fail often
  2. A shift in intraday control back to buyers
  3. Nothing, VWAP is just an average

B. A shift in intraday control back to buyers. High volume on the reclaim means size was committed on the way back up. That is a real signal, not noise.
